Back in business again.
In my effort to make some “improvements” on my blog, I managed to lock myself (and everybody else) out of my blog for 4 days. After many attempted modifications and corrections, as well as many calls to the tech-support of my hosting company, we got to the bottom of things, and voilĂ , the blog is up again. Phew.
Ready for the next improvement….
Since this problem required all my attention, it has set me back quite a bit in my efforts to get more new posts installed on my blog and make some posts and comments on the blogs of the other students, as recommended by Alex. So that is going to be the next priority.
I have been looking at a number of the sites from the fellow students, and I am absolutely impressed with what some have accomplished with their blogs. The number of posts, and the variety of options, pictures, links and fancy features that can be found there is impressive. This shows me that I have a long road of learning ahead of me. At least there are many good examples to follow and to learn from.
So here we go - off to see the wizard.

Hi Bill,
It’s all part of the process to fail forward, so don’t give up and you’ll make it out of the woods soon.
Good thing you managed to get your blog back up and you learned how to handle hosting people. That’s a step in the right direction.
If anybody has questions or has something to share, you are welcome leave a comment in my blog or post a topic in my forum.
All the best!
Regards,
Erwin Chua

Hi Bill,
Yes, as newbies we perhaps fail forward more times than the more experienced. Or perhaps they can pick themselves up more quickly. Whatever it is, as they say, you’ve got to be in it to win it and we are in te Alex Jeffreys’ coaching program and we’re here to win at success in our internet marketing endeavours.
Great that you are back up again. All power to you …
Would you be kind enough to add me to your blogroll please? Also your list stops at “L” on the listing on the right sidebar. Could you add a note directing people to go to your “Students of Alex” page for the full list as I am a “V” and when I get listed I am in danger of not being noticed. (Boo hoo.)
Also, I can see you have a lot to do, but I noticed you do not have a Gravatar. My most recent post was on this and maybe you will find this helpful. Drop by anyway, if you like, and I will add you to my blogroll.
All the best,
Valerie

Valerie,
Thanks for your suggestion.
I did manage to add your name and URL to the ‘Student List’.
However the request to add a note to (re)direct people to the page with additional students appears to be beyond me.
I tried to manipulate the side bar in many ways, but I can’t seem to make that message to show up at the right spot.
HTML is straight code and manageable, but PHP appears to be all convoluted macros.
Maybe later ….
Bill
Hey Bill!
Your post was very interesting. The debate on blog rolling has been going on for awhile and I think I have decided what I am going to do. I am not going to put up a blog roll as such, but I did download a plugin for WordPress that allows the backlinks to be created when people make a comment. WordPress does not allow this by default… which I was not aware of. I hope in this way it helps my commentors out, and in the process moves my blog up the google pages.
Have a great New Year! My wish for you is that you achieve all your dreams and goals!
See you in the webinars!
Beth
Willem/Bill,
If i could make one suggestion now that i have noticed.
You really should fix your permalink structure inside wordpress.
This would turn your urls from looking like this
blog.com/?p=1
to
blog.com/hello-world/
The benefit to doing this is that is gives potential visitors the ability to tell what your post might be about by the name of your url/post and the structure is more seo friendly, too.
If you need help on setting this up, i’ve written a small ebook which illustrates how to do this for you. You can download it “BlogFU” on my blog if you choose.
Cheers,
Colin
